DESCRIPTION

A journey through a decade of science communication!

After 10 years of project work that has taken us from marine science to medicine, from archaeology to space (astrophysics), we wanted to capture these impressions in an exhibition in Kiel's Anschar Park and share them with our friends and clients. Our vision of communicating complex scientific findings in an understandable way was brought to life in each of the exhibited projects.

The Science Communication Lab was born out of the question of how to better present and communicate climate-related changes in our oceans. Our core product, the interactive scientific poster, was created in this way and convinced not only the marine scientists in Kiel. The interactive concept and the futuristic visualizations by Konrad Rappaport were awarded with renowned design prizes such as the "German Design Award" or the coveted "Information is Beautiful Award".

In our exhibition, we not only presented a large number of interactive exhibits from various scientific disciplines, but also wanted to show the long journey through research, the design process and programming. At display tables our visitors could experience this process for the exhibits "Explore the Ocean" and "Meet the Metaorganism" and browse through sketches and research results.

Animated films about the search for dark matter by DESY researchers in the ALPS II experiment were also shown on a large screen. The highlight of the exhibition were the presentations of the renowned information designers Moritz Stefaner and Jonas Loh from Studio NAND.

After all the interesting discussions and good feedback, we hope it won't be another 10 years before we plan the next exhibition.
